THE Government House ballroom provided a magnificent setting for the charity gala hosted by Chris and Lavender Patten in aid of the Community Chest.

As the theme for the night was 'Be an Angel' it was angelic smiles all round as the guests tucked into an ambrosial repast, before contributing generously towards the $8 million that was raised.

Among the goodies auctioned was a Jaguar XJR which was claimed by Junie Tong, co-chairman of the ball organising committee, with a top bid of $1.38 million.
