THROUGHPUT at Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (HACTL) continued to increase last month to reflect an overall 13.5 per cent gain over February last year.
A total of 77,011 tonnes of cargo was handled, comprising 28,780 tonnes of export cargo, 34,666 tonnes of import cargo and 12,565 tonnes of transshipment cargo.
'The latest figures continue a strong pattern of growth which has seen HACTL throughput increase 15.3 per cent for the first two months of the year over the same period last year,' said managing director Anthony Charter.
'They also deviate from normal post-holiday trends, which usually see cargo figures slip a little, and tend to suggest that this year will result in continued strong demand for HACTL services.' Mr Charter said that HACTL's reliability also improved last month, with only eight consignments out of a total of 148,039 being reported mishandled.
In January, HACTL recorded a 16.7 per cent increase over the the same month last year.
