I REFER to the letter from bicycle owner Alan Sargent (South China Morning Post, April 5) and the impending barring of bicycles from cross-harbour ferries.
This seems to be most unreasonable and an easy solution is obvious: charge the bicycle rider the same fare for his bicycle, as for himself.
This should satisfy both parties.
A more far-sighted government would have provided special roadways for cyclists, as progressive countries such as the Netherlands and Denmark have.
However, I suspect there is not enough money and prestige in the humble bicycle for big-time, big-spending, Hong Kong people with no foresight.
