All clear for AC Milan to play

REIGNING European Cup champions AC Milan will appear in the territory on June 15 in an exhibition match against South China.

South China were worried the Italian side might not appear for the second year running because the date was considered too close to another exhibition match on June 10 which First Division rivals Sing Tao are organising.

The matter appears to have been resolved now and Milan, who have reached the semi-finals of this season's European Cup, are expected to appear here almost a year after the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) rejected a local promoter's proposal.

The match is expected to be rubber-stamped in an extra-ordinary council meeting next Friday.

The June 15 date is almost ideal for South China because almost all of AC Milans' current internationals are likely to be available.

Instant-Dict, Frankwell and Eastern are hoping to organise exhibition matches with Flamengo, Juventus and Anderlecht respectively.

Rangers blanked Kui Tan 3-0 last night in a Marlboro First Division match with a goal apiece from Bobby Barnes, Leung Kam-fai and Tam Siu-wai.

The draw for Hong Kong FA Cup which starts on May 11 was announced last night.

First round: Happy Valley v Sing Tao; Instant-Dict v Eastern; South China v Frankwell, Rangers v Kui Tan.

Second round: Kitchee v winners of Rangers v Kui Tan; Golden v winners of Happy Valley v Sing Tao.
