HAPPY Valley's First Division clash with Instant-Dict was called off 30 minutes before kick-off last night after a torrential downpour left the Mongkok Stadium pitch awash.
The postponement immediately caused selection problems for joint leaders Valley whose influential Russian imports Sergei Volkov and Sergei Markine were due to miss last night's match through one-match suspensions.
But they will instead now be ineligible for Valley's crucial clash against rivals Eastern next Thursday.
There were a handful of people in the stadium when the game was called off with the pitch markings all but washed away.
Meanwhile, the eventual First Division champions have been handed a tough test in the first round of the Asian Club Championship against J.Leaguers Verdy Kawasaki in November.
The winners of next month's Challenge Shield final between Happy Valley and Rangers will meet Japanese side Yokohama Flugels in the second round of the sixth Asian Cup Winners' Cup.
