Stars cast as positive voters

THIS is a year of voting, and young people are encouraged to think about their responsibilities as members of the community. A vote is an important act that shows one's concern for the community and the welfare of the territory.

To tie in with the Legislative Council (Legco) elections to be held in September, Radio Television Hong Kong launched a 'To Be a Sharp and Smart Voter' campaign recently at the New Town Plaza in Sha Tin.

The campaign focuses on the 'Nine Functional Constituencies', and reminds members of the public, especially young people who have reached the voting age of 18, to register as voters and take part in the voting with a positive, 'help-our-society' outlook.

To give citizens a clearer picture of the voting system and the 'Nine Functional Constituencies', RTHK introduced two interesting quizzes relating to the Legco elections.

The most entertaining part of the event was a 'fashion show' at which Legislative Councillors and pop stars wore different clothes to symbolise the nine constituencies.

The stars who took part in the promotion were Andy Lau, Ekin Cheng, Eric Suen, Leo Koo, Edmond Leung, Winnie Lau, Amanda Lee and Tai Yan-ling, backed by the band Zen.
