HERE are 10 ways to make a difference in this world where so many people go hungry every day.

Think about cutting back on junk food - make a donation to an organisation working to alleviate hunger.

Try eating more vegetables, cereals, and beans instead of meat and processed foods which require a lot of resources for production.

Form small study groups to learn more about food problems and seek information from relevant organisations.

Try to find out more about food: how it is produced and how this affects poor people.

Write to newspapers, magazines and governments to express your concern on the unequal distribution of world resources.

Speak to your friends about the causes of world hunger and explain how they can help.

Use your consumer power to support Alternative Trading Organisations which trade directly with small-scale producers in developing countries.

Consume more locally-produced and environmental-friendly products with lower production costs.

Organise a hunger banquet in your school, church or office to spread the word about the issue.

Give your support to organisations like Oxfam which are working to help people overcome hunger.
