A shipping company that delivers peace of mind as much as it delivers goods - this is how Solvang differentiates itself in the competitive gas shipping industry.

"Our philosophy is that we win on having the most modern ships, providing outstanding quality and reliability in terms of the vessels themselves and our services," says Solvang CEO Edvin Endresen.

Trusted by industry leaders including Statoil, Koch and SABIC, Solvang combines more than 70 years of Norwegian shipping expertise with a modernised strategy. It sails the world's most state-of-the-art fleet with the most efficient technologies and an average age of less than seven years.

The fleet includes seven semi-refrigerated and ethylene ships, six fully refrigerated liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) large gas carriers and five very large gas carriers - two of which are under construction for delivery this year.

Headquartered in Stavanger, the ISO 14001-certified company has offices in Oslo, Copenhagen and the Philippines, where it has a seafarer pool of 500 with 99 per cent retention rate. Each crew member undergoes comprehensive in-house programmes emphasising health, safety and environment.

"We have reduced our consumption of resources including oils and fuels by more than 40 per cent in the past 15 years," Endresen says. "This diminished our environmental impact and our costs - a benefit that we are able to pass on to customers."

While its clients are mainly from Europe, the United States and the Middle East, Solvang ships mostly to Asia, where increasing rubber, plastic and vehicle use is driving demand for LPG and petrochemical gases. Solvang sees this trend as a promising opportunity to explore the region.

"As we expand our fleet, we look forward to working with clients, shipyards and investors within Asia and beyond," Endresen says.

"We will ensure that we remain the preferred quality provider of LPG tonnage, and strive at becoming the industry's best."
