Muster set to make his mark

IRISH stayer Muster Mark put in a pleasing run for fifth in the race won by Golden Heart yesterday and that must have been encouraging for trainer Bruce Hutchison. Muster Mark, who holds a Happy Valley equitrack record, has had tendon problems and has been brought carefully back by his Australian handler. In the past, Muster Mark has shown a handy turn of foot late in his races and that was there again yesterday. With several careful runs under his belt following quiet work on the track, Muster Mark could well be ready for an upcoming 2,000-metre event. Intermac Joker raced without much distinction in Ireland but is going to be dangerous here over 1,800 metres or on a wet track. A combination of both might well make him a real bet and he does have claims in a future 1,600-metre.

He finished third in the second event yesterday, just a neck away from Plenty Cash and there is enough ability there to win in Class Four. And watch out for Surely Wonderful who ran home well in the fifth race, not having much luck in running. He is coming back to himself and could get away with a race before the season ends. And Citispeed is heading in the right direction. He ran pleasingly in the Happy Valley Vase and the run will bring him on. He will be winning.
