Expat trash more offensive

A COUPLE of points in reply to your correspondent Leonard Hastings (South China Morning Post, June 12).

I have lost count of the number of times it has been pointed out that most Filipinos earn less than $4,000 per month, so the option of meeting their friends in some high-hat restaurant is denied them.

Believe me, the sight of a gang of rich fat old expat trash scoffing lard in such a restaurant, turns my stomach a lot worse than seeing a couple of thousand maids and drivers having a few San Migs on a sunny afternoon.

I was particularly amused by his use of the words 'menacing' and 'beer-crazed'.

Is he serious? From his name he is of Anglo origin, a member of the race for which these terms were coined.

I personally, although no pugilist, have never felt the slightest tremor of fear when confronted by a five-foot happy smiling Filipino domestic worker.
