COSCO revamps American routes

CHINA Ocean Shipping (Group) Co (COSCO Group) has revamped its Pacific Southwest (PSW) and Pacific Northwest (PNW) services to the west coast of North America to cut transit times.

The improved PSW service will be provided on a fixed-day weekly basis with five vessels: four of 3,494 teus (twenty-foot equivalent units) and one of 3,800 teus.

The port rotation will be Hong Kong, Nagoya, Yokohama, Long Beach, Oakland, Yokohama, Pusan and Hong Kong. Transit time between Yokohama and Long Beach will be reduced by one day to nine days.

The first vessel in the revamped service, Express Dragon, called at Nagoya and Yokohama this week.

The new PSW-PNW service, also on a fixed-day weekly basis and with six vessels (five 2,716 teu and one 1,960 teu ships) will call at Xingang, Qingdao, Pusan, Kobe, Long Beach, Seattle, Vancouver, Yokohama and Kobe.
