Safety first on buses

WE refer to Leo Chung's letter with regard to the service of route No 3M (South China Morning Post, June 2).

We have noticed that there have been some changes in the passenger demand pattern of this route.

This may have resulted from the alteration in the timetable of schools that are holding examinations.

We will keep track of the situation and deploy buses more flexibly to cope with the change in demand.

Passenger safety is our prime concern and it is stipulated in our Bus Captain Regulations that all bus captains must drive with care.

We will impose serious disciplinary action on bus captains who are found speeding or misbehaving in ways that might cause danger to passengers. Route No 3M buses are cleaned at Tsz Wan Sha (South) bus terminus whenever layover time allows and when they return to the depot every day.

However co-operation from passengers in keeping the compartment clean is also needed.

Should Mr Chung come across again any bus captain driving irregularly or find litter in any bus compartment, we would appreciate it if he could furnish us with details such as date, time, route number and vehicle licence plate number so that we can follow up immediately with the case.

He can simply call our office on 2786 8050 or our Customer Service Hotline on 2745 4466.
