Silence on ceremonies

MAY we inquire as to the reasons for the late publication by the Government and other bodies of their plans to commemorate the termination of hostilities in the Pacific War 50 years ago? So far we have not heard how the Government is to deal with the closure of Chater and Connaught roads to accommodate those who wish to attend the Cenotaph on August 15 to pay their respects to the fallen.

We have not been advised at which hour there will be a territory-wide silence for two minutes in honour of those who died in the cause of freedom.

We have not heard what events have been organised to honour those whose lives were sacrificed in the defeat of tyranny.
