BRITISH line P&O Containers will introduce a third dedicated Red Sea feeder vessel, named Clearwater Bay, next month.

The 116-teu vessel, with a service speed of 13 knots, will operate on a fortnightly voyage cycle between Jeddah, Djibouti and Assab.

When combined with the existing dedicated feeder vessel Nils R - which is now covering Djibouti, Aden, Mokha, Assab, Massawa and Berbera - it will allow greater flexibility and improve frequency of port calls in the lower Red Sea, P&O said.

'We wanted a regular and reliable link between Assab/Djibouti and Jeddah for some time.

'The introduction of the new feeder allows P&O to provide more frequent calls at Assab, Massawa, Aden and Mokha,' said East African Trade manager Tim Smith.
