ABOUT 25 police were deployed yesterday in the continuing hunt for 13 Vietnamese on the run after escaping from the High Island detention centre on Sunday.

A total of 77 of the 90 escapees have been found in the Sai Kung area.

The Sai Kung Divisional Commander, Superintendent Michael Broom, said the operation had been scaled down, but would continue.

'Our aim obviously is to re-arrest the boat people and we will continue to be on the look out,' he said.

He added it was possible the rest of the runaways had left the Sai Kung area but he said the whole force had been alerted.
