PNEUMOCONIOSIS sufferers won a long-running battle yesterday for compensation.

The Labour Advisory Board decided all sufferers of the crippling lung disease should get $2,100 a month.

Since 1993, payment has been made, but only to patients whose working ability had deteriorated. Sufferers who could not show their condition was deteriorating were denied the benefit.

The new move will become effective next year.
