Saucy pictures from a bored rascal
BEIJING artist Song Yonghong has been called a member of the bored rascal school of painting.
In his first solo exhibition outside the mainland, Song's sardonic approach - full of smutty schoolboy humour - is captured in Burning Realities.
It is being held at the Hanart TZ Gallery, 5/F, Old Bank of China Building, from today until August 25.
Like many post-1989 artists, the gallery says, Song has shed his serious approach for a more humorous line.
He offers a peep-show perspective of the intimate moments in people's lives. Song teaches at the Beijing School of Art and Design.
In Galerie La Vong's Keeping Cool III collection of Vietnamese art, nudity is mixed with sea breezes on the beach in a selection of paintings to stave off the summer heat.
