A MAINLAND sailor was $3 million poorer yesterday after he was shot and robbed by two men.

The sailor, who was carrying the cash in a plastic bag, was ambushed outside Western Loading Area. He was shot in the right leg in the scuffle.

Police said the 36-year-old mainlander had not told them what he was doing with such a large sum of money.

He was in fair condition at Queen Mary Hospital last night.

Witnesses said the assailants escaped in a waiting lorry. They dumped the vehicle at Fung Mut Road and switched to a car containing a fourth gang member. Police spotted the car in Admiralty, but it sped off.
