HONG KONG'S consumer services price index rose 0.6 per cent in July compared with June, but rose 11.3 per cent over the year to July, according to the Hong Kong Coalition of Service Industries.

The coalition index is derived from the official consumer price index (CPI) and comprises service items in the CPI, representing 39.26 per cent of the weighting of the CPI (A) and 43.05 per cent of CPI (B).

While the official CPI (A) rose 8.5 per cent year-on-year in the July year and seemed to have moderated, the coalition said its services price index rose at double-digit levels.
