Top student wins prize for old school
FORMER St Clare's Girls' School pupil, Yu Ming-lai, who will be graduating as the top student in the Chinese University's department of economics this year, accepted a prize for her old school from Nanyang Commercial Bank.
The prize was established to honour the best graduate in economics and to promote education in economics.
One of the conditions of the prize stipulates that the $10,000 award money goes to the prize-winner's secondary school. The money is to be used by the school to purchase economic textbooks for its library.
Miss Yu was also presented with a certificate of academic merit from the department of economics and a souvenir from the Nanyang Commercial Bank.
Miss Yu's academic record at the university has been outstanding and she will join the government to be an Administrative Officer after graduation.
