CONSTRUCTION work on the Airport Core Programme (ACP) projects is nearly 40 per cent complete.

Contracts awarded so far under the $158.2 billion ACP budget have amounted to $90 billion.

During this summer, much progress has been made in each of the 10 core projects.

Many milestones were recorded, especially in bridge works.

Construction of the main span of the 500-metre Route 3 Rambler Channel Bridge was finished in July.

It is the first bridge deck to be completed under the ACP.

The completion of the deck of a 320-metre road bridge has made the first physical link between Chek Lap Kok and Lantau Island. The bridge will link the new airport to Tung Chung New Town and the North Lantau Expressway.

The first 500-tonne units for the main span of the Tsing Ma Bridge have been lifted into position.

Further units are being lifted regularly.

Other ACP projects, including land reclamation, construction of the transport network and new town development, are also in good progress.
