I REFER to Mr Johnny Cheung's letter concerning waste-paper collection bins (South China Morning Post, August 9).

Mr Cheung's comments on the design of the bin and the size of its label are noted and will be taken into consideration when more waste-paper collection bins are purchased in the future.

As regards the locations for placing such bins, since they are meant for the convenience of the public, they are placed in strategic locations wherever possible. However, there are site constraints such as the width of the pavement, plus objections from nearby shopkeepers.
