Wuhan firms bankrupt

FIFTY-FOUR state and collectively owned enterprises in Wuhan have declared bankruptcy under a pilot scheme, leaving 23,200 people out of work, Xinhua (the New China News Agency) reports. Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, is one of 18 cities selected for the bankruptcy experiment.
