Danish Clipper in US$50m sale

NINE China-built multi-purpose cargo ships have been bought for US$50 million from the Danish Clipper Group by Mint Mini Bulkers (Panama).

The 91.2-metre-long and 15-metre-wide tween-deckers, drawing five metres and of 3,1590 dwt, were built by China's Zhonghua Shipyard and Donghai Shipyard between 1987 and 1991.

They are currently in service in the Far East and US-Gulf/Caribbean, according to the Shipping and Trade News of Japan.

The ships are the Baltimar Sun, Supersix, Industrial Hope, Baltimar Moon, Baltimar Mars, Superfive, Baltimar Boreas, Baltimar Zephyr and Industrial Spirit. Each vessel has two 50-tonne capacity cranes and has 4,755 cubic metres of loading space.
