Electronic guide to product details
AVIT Solutions has come up with an interactive electronic product catalogue which represents a new direction for business communications.
Its product, the eCat Electronic Catalog, has won a Machinery and Equipment Design Award.
Customers can receive a combination of text, photo, picture, sound, animation and motion video information direct from a company - in digital format using a floppy disk or CD-ROM.
The eCat allows customers to integrate product brochures, an inquiry system and the interactive kiosk and photo catalogue.
Contents can be updated easily and it is the latest in the field.
It features slide show and kiosk functions, thumbnail and index searching, prints product photos and information, handles Chinese and English text information and its interactive features allow feedback for users.
The Automatic Photo Show allows users to display photos in sequence with 'transition' effects accompanied by background music.
The latest visual database allows up to 100 high-quality photos or pictures to be put on a single floppy disk and thousands can be put on a CD-ROM disk. The catalogue and presentation system offers a product catalogue, photo album and presentation slide show.
It is designed for companies that constantly need to store and present large amounts of visual information to, say, trading firms, manufacturers, retailers or travel agents. Since the eCat can be delivered on a floppy disk, traders can use it for on-site presentations, giveaways in trade shows or mail it to overseas customers.
The special visual effects and music playback engine built into the system enhance its visual and audio impact.
Normally, a floppy disk can store only 10 to 15 colour photos. But the eCat can store up to 80 colour photos on a single disk and this is made possible by factual compression technology, which is used by Microsoft, Lotus and the United States Defence Department.
Once the eCat is installed, the disk can be re-formatted for other application uses.
