Three officers held over illegal gambling den
THREE police constables were arrested yesterday for allegedly overseeing the operation of an illegal gambling den after early morning raids in Kowloon City.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) said the operation, which also involved police, started at about 3 am when 15 people, including 11 off-duty officers, were arrested.
During the raid, $90,000 in cash and some gambling tools were seized.
All 15 people were released on bail in the afternoon. However, two of the officers were re-arrested by the ICAC after being released and, in another raid, two civilians and a police constable were also arrested.
All five were last night being detained in ICAC custody on suspicion of corruption offences related to the running of an illegal gambling establishment for about a month.
