THE battle for the multi-million dollar fortune of one of Hong Kong's biggest heroin smugglers has been delayed.

Chun Yeung, 39, was jailed in January for 25 years for conspiring to traffic in 277 kilograms of heroin with a street value of at least $83 million.

But inadequate preparation stalled High Court proceedings to strip the drug baron of his assets.

Barry Sceats, representing Chun, told Mr Justice Chan that his legal papers had not arrived until Friday.

He said that he was reluctant to proceed without having thoroughly reviewed the documents because the 'proceedings are of major consequence'.

Mr Justice Chan rescheduled the application for Confiscation Order for October 20 and November 13.
