Ho Tung splash through to higher division

HO Tung Technical School for Girls have qualified for Division Two, after winning the girls' overall championship in the Division Three inter-school swimming competition, Hong Kong Area, held recently at Kowloon Park Swimming Pool.

The Ho Tung girls excelled in all three grades. With a first in Grade A and a second in Grade B and C, they topped the overall standings with 230 points. Precious Blood Girls' Middle School came second with 72 points.

Ho Tung also powered their way to victory in two relay events. They took the Grade A and B 4 x 50 m medley relays, but came second in the 4 x 50 m freestyle relay, losing to West Island School by 0.34 sec.

West Island School boys and girls dominated the Grade C events, with the girls taking the 4 x 50 m freestyle relay, while the boys beat French International School in the 4 x 50 m medley relay in 2 min 31.76 sec to win the gold.

Rosaryhill School's Grade A boys took the Grade A title and helped the school win the overall championship.

SKH Lui Ming Choi Secondary School finished overall, and the school's Grade A swimmer Kong Ho-yin took the 100 m and 200 m freestyle races in 1 min 3.37 sec, and 2 min 27.77 sec respectively.

Grade A breaststroke specialist Leung Chun-ho of Shaukeiwan Government Secondary School won the 100 m and 200 m races in 1 min, 24.16 and 3 min 10.49 sec respectively.

Aberdeen Technical School also had their moments of glory. The school came first in the Grade A and B 4 x 50 m freestyle relays, and finished third overall.

Competition was much keener in the Kowloon area. Kwun Tong Government Secondary School edged past Wa Wing College by a 5-point margin to lift the boys' overall championship.
