GUANGXI police have set a new record for seizures of bear paws and arrested a man involved in the trafficking of three black bears.
The seizure of 188 paws was the 'most serious kind ever recorded in China', said Xinhua (the New China News Agency).
A factory worker was caught with the black bears and bear paws and two gall bladders were also found, Xinhua said, quoting a report in the China Environment News.
It said the man was trying to sell the parts in Guangdong and was arrested after local residents in Guangxi reported him to the police. The case is still under investigation, it added.
The report came less than a week after the arrest of three other men by Guangxi police.
They were allegedly attempting to transport 39 bear paws from Guiyang in Guizhou province, to Liuzhou in Guangxi.
