HK Sindhis are victims
WE Hong Kong Sindhis are honestly grateful to Jonathan Braude in cautioning us on the reception Mr Bal Thackeray has in store for us in his frank article headlined, 'Little Hitler calls shots' (South China Morning Post, November 13).
At the same time we were sincerely flattered at the Government of Maharashtra in beckoning us as 'brethren' in its advertisement inviting us to invest in its 'state-of-the-heart' dream homes in its non-resident Indians (NRI) housing complex (Business Post, November 25).
The Government of Maharashtra is correct to signal us as end users for its projects and not as manipulators of property prices.
We Hong Kong Sindhis have absolutely no influence on property prices in Bombay, but are ourselves victims of the spiralling prices created by local building lobbies, estate agents and most importantly, politicians.
In short we don't want to be used as scapegoats for some other people's sins.
