A SENIOR government official, accused of having submitted false qualifications and employment history to support his application for emigration to Australia, is expected to face trial in June.
Francis Wong Hon-chung, Assistant Commissioner of Correctional Services (inspectorate and management services), had earlier pleaded not guilty at Eastern Court to conspiracy to defraud and uttering forged documents with intent to defraud.
Defence solicitor Mr Anthony Loong said Wong would be represented by Mr Anthony Corrigan, QC.
Magistrate Mr Michael Hill set the trial for June 28.
It was alleged that between July 25 and October 19, 1990, Wong conspired with his friend Patrick Wong to dishonestly defraud officers of the Australian Government Consulate in Hongkong.
The defendant is accused of providing false information to the consulate in a bid to migrate to Australia under the Employment Nomination Scheme.
