THE Academy for Performing Arts will present a series of Cantonese drama productions in its Studio Theatre in the coming months.

Each play is a collaborative work by a team of academy students.

One of the plays, Ordinary People, will be staged at 7.45 pm from now through to Saturday, with a Saturday matinee at 2.45 pm.

The play is an honest and sober portrayal of a family's deterioration following the accidental death of the eldest son.

The protagonist is the teenager Conrad, who struggles to come to terms with the death of his brother.

A caring father and a stubborn mother add further complications to the situation.

The play explores man's different reactions to severe pressure and the love-hatre tension between family members.

Tickets at $70 (adults), $60 (Society for the APA members), $40 (full-time students, senior citizens and the disabled) are available at Urbtix outlets.
