Consulate sues bank after road collision

THE Consulate General of the Philippines has filed a writ in the Supreme Court after a road crash.

Named as defendants are Mr Alan David Scott and Girozentrale Und Bank Der Osterreischen Sparkassen Aktiengesellchaft, of Two Exchange Square, Central.

The writ states that on December 28, 1991, the consulate vehicle, driven by Mr Lee Chi-keung, was hit in the rear by the defendants' car.

The writ claims the collision was caused by Mr Scott's negligence, alleging he drove too fast, too close to the consulate vehicle and failed to pay due care and attention to traffic conditions.

Mr Scott was convicted of careless driving at Western Court last April.

The Consulate is seeking damages of more than $151,000.
