ANYONE doubting the importance of a stable change only had to look at the way Bicycle won at 28-1 on his first start for the highly promising local handler Ricky Yiu in yesterday's Class Six event at Sha Tin. Another stable change seems to be bringing Gold Yue Yee back to his old self and he ran a cracking race for Brian Kan Ping-chee in the final event in which all eyes were on Tony Cruz's final mount and final winner, Super Team. Gold Yue Yee has been more than useful from 1,200 metres to a mile in his day when he was on the fringes of Class One. Yesterday's fourth placing indicates that his turn is about to come, especially as he is now down to a mark of 81.

There's nothing like a drop down into Class Six to see a youngster show improved form and that was the case yesterday with Ivan Allan's Rainbow Star who is only just coming right. This was the first time he was near peak condition and the way he hit the line over a mile to finish fourth to Bicycle, he should prevail in this grade in his next couple of outings, especially if pushed up to distances beyond a mile.
