Spirits soar at Sha Tin Fun Day

THOUSANDS of kites of all colours, sizes and shapes brightened up the Sha Tin sky last weekend.

The kites were flown by some 3,000 participants taking part in a Kite-Flying Fun Day organised by the Regional Council.

Kite-flying lovers and their families had a great time trying their hands at the art of kite-flying while appreciating the sophisticated kite-flying techniques of invited local masters from the Hong Kong International Kite Association, Hong Kong Kite Association and China Light and Power Company.

The experts enthralled an enthusiastic audience with lifelike kites of giant dragons, phoenix, little warriors and fish.

To enhance the attractiveness of the annual event, a new item - the Kite-Making Competition - was added to this year's fun day.

The champion, first and second runners-up, and winners of the Best in Appearance, Artwork, Creativity and Flying were awarded trophies at the ceremony.

Other fun activities were also held.
