SANTA has forgotten five needy kids. The proceeds of this year's Operation Santa Claus campaign are just $60,000 short of the magic $3 million.

And as the cost to Youth Outreach of plucking wayward children from the streets and seeing them safely back with their families is $12,000 a head, RTHK Radio 3 and the South China Morning Post need a New Year gift for five unhappy young people.

Cheques will be presented tomorrow to Youth Outreach and Sowers Action, the Hong Kong-based charity helping to improve educational facilities for children in southern China.

The Chief Secretary, Anson Chan Fang On-sang, will make the presentation at a function in the Victoriana Room at the Furama Kempinski Hotel, at 5.30 pm.

Major donors, including the KPS chain of video stores which raised a massive $490,000, have been invited.
