Comdex comes to Beijing
COMDEX, the computer industry trade show that takes Las Vegas by storm every autumn, will be coming to Beijing this year, chairman of the International Data Group (IDG), Patrick McGovern, said yesterday.
IDG was working with China's Ministry of Electronics and Industry (MEI), Comdex organisers Soft-bank and another mainland partner to stage the show in Beijing in June, Mr McGovern said.
IDG, which publishes more than 270 technology newspapers and magazines worldwide and also organises conferences, had strong connections in China and was using them to set up Comdex Beijing.
Technology information was being sucked up rapidly on the mainland, Mr McGovern said, adding that Comdex Beijing should see about 120,000 people attending.
More than 40 per cent of the exhibitors would be from Asia, he said.
