GOVERNMENT, employers and employees agreed to avoid conflicting aims on workers' welfare at their first tripartite meeting yesterday.

It is understood that the meeting was initiated by employers in view of the number of private member's bills in Legco aimed at improving working conditions. A resolution has been tabled for discussion today by unionist Lee Cheuk-yan to amend the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Ordinance in breach of the understanding reached by the Labour Advisory Board.
