New look for tourists
THE gulf of language makes it unclear if the Korean Rugby Football Union have purged their team of 'the undesirables' who failed to lift their country into last year's Rugby World Cup.
The tourists, here to play three matches including two Tests, have 11 players in the 23-strong squad who are newcomers and who did not play at the 1994 Asian Rugby Football Tournament in Kuala Lumpur which doubled as a World Cup qualifier. The Koreans lost out to eventual Asian World Cup representatives Japan.
Whether that loss has resulted in the mass change - including the team manager and coach - was unclear yesterday. Poor communication skills caused the obstacle to communication. The Koreans knew little English. This reporter's Korean is limited to Kimchi and Bulgogi.
The Koreans are likely to field all their 11 new players in tonight's limb-loosener against the territory's number two team.
