RUGBY union and league champion Jonathon Davies will provide a star quality to the Welsh squad at next month's Cathay Pacific HongKong Bank Invitation Sevens.

Davies, a brilliant union full-back who made an equally big impact when he switched to rugby league, is part of a strong 10-man Welsh squad announced yesterday.

Davies recently reverted to the union game.

Also in the squad is former Welsh captain and current international winger Ieuan Evans.

Wales, the first home country to send a national team to the Sevens, are grouped with Australia, South Korea and Kwang-Hua Taipei in Pool D for the March 29-31 competition.

Wales squad Chris Wyatt (Llanelli), Matthew Wintle (Llanelli), Colin Charvis (Swansea), Leigh Davies (Neath), Robert Howley (Bridgend), Jonathon Davies (Cardiff), Gareth Thomas (Bridgend), Justin Thomas (Llanelli), Paul John (Pontypridd), Ieuan Evans (Llanelli).
