Second brewery planned

CARLSBERG Brewery Hong Kong, 39.2 per cent owned by Swire Pacific, is to set up a second brewery in China.

The brewery, in Shanghai's Songjiang Economic & Development zone, will be 80 per cent owned by Carlsberg with the rest going to Songjiang Economic & Technical Developing & Construction General Co.

The estimated investment is US$50 million and the initial capacity is 500,000 hectolitres. It will begin operation by January 1998.
