AS cold weather descends on Hongkong, buyers invariably turn to warmer clothes, and knitted garments are stylish and warm this year.

Some of the biggest retailers are buying from Hongkong manufacturers.

Today's Knitwear Show will parade the latest designs in Merino wool, lambs' wool, mohair, angora and cashmere.

The show will highlight beaded and sequinned jumpers as well as ribbed leggings and tunics.

The ''B & W Collection'' label is designed for women.

It features wool and cashmere, with A-line long cardigans and wrap-around cropped jackets matched with body suits.

The label, which is available in Japan, Hongkong and Taiwan, is emphasising a tailored look in green, orange, purple and navy blue colours.

More cashmere will be exhibited by Cashmere Fashion and Garments Ltd.

Its range of cardigans, pullovers, dresses, skirts and pants comes in a variety of colours and shades of grey.

TSE Cashmere deals exclusively with cashmere and specialises in simple lines and clean silhouette ensembles in camel and neutral shades.

Lam Wo Enterprises, under the label ''P. Y. Club'' exports to Europe, the United States and Canada.

Its range of tunic dresses, jumpsuits, trousers and overcoats is patterned in brown, burgundy, violet and green.
