THE will to succeed was stamped on all the performances seen at the annual athletics meeting of the Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College, held recently at the Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground.

The students came to the sports day knowing that such an occasion helps build a sense of belonging and boosts the spirit of perseverance.

'If you think you can, you can,' were the words on Joanne Sze's mind as the Form Six student set off on the 800-metres race.

'My classmates thought I might never finish the race. But thanks to all my hard training and the support of my friends and teachers, I made it!' At the end of an exciting day, Topaz emerged as the champion house, defeating Sapphire, Emerald and Ruby.

Topaz chairman Samson Cheung said the victory was the result of great team spirit and fine individual performances given that extra boost by a spirited cheering team.

Cheung also thanked all Topaz house members for their support.

In her address, special guest Lucy Lau, president of the Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club, urged all the students to strive for good results in both academic subjects and sports.

Individual results: Girls': Grade A - Nip Lai-sze and Lam Kit-lui; Grade B - Lam Man-nei; Grade C - Chan Shuk-on.

Boys': Grade A - Wu Tak-kin; Grade B - Fu Yu; Grade C - Kwok Gang-chue.
