The Barbados Ship's Registry has been formally recommended for ISO 9002 certification by Lloyd's Registry's quality assurance inspector.

Captain Alan Morris, the principal registrar, said: 'To be only the second international flag administration to date to implement ISO 9002 is a considerable achievement, and proves that Barbados means business.' The registry has 83 vessels with about 337,000 gross tonnes on its books. Six newbuildings including tankers and general cargo vessels are on the reserved list for the registry.
