Computer students win scholarships

Outstanding Computer Studies students at the City University of Hong Kong have been awarded with scholarships and bursaries totalling $100,000.

The awards, jointly sponsored by Seagate Technology and VST Computers (HK), are designed to promote the importance of computer studies among tertiary students.

Scholarships worth $10,000 each were presented to Chiu Man-yee and Lam Chun-yip by Seagate's country manager for Hong Kong and China, Y. S. Chia, and VST Computers' general manager, Eric Cheng, at the university's annual scholarship presentation ceremony held recently.

In addition to the Seagate/VST scholarships, a number of bursaries as well as 20 certificates worth $1,500 each to purchase Seagate disc drives from VST Computers, were given to computer science students of the university.

'Chiu Man-yee and Lam Chun-yip have worked extremely hard, and it gives us great pleasure to encourage these two young future information technology professionals in their endeavours,' Mr Chia said at the award presentation ceremony.
