An inquiry into an incident on Monday when a couple were hit by falling concrete is likely to take a month to complete.
Last night Thai tourist Wanlayaphol Buaphan, 44, who was hit on the head by a three-metre block of concrete, was slowly improving after undergoing emergency surgery at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Her husband, Bernt Nilsson, 56, a former fireman from Sweden, was treated and discharged after sustaining slight head injuries when the concrete fell from the fourth floor of the Ka Lok Building in Jordan Road.
A preliminary inspection by a three-man team from the department's dangerous buildings section showed the building was structurally safe.
But the Assistant Director of Buildings (structural engineering), Cheung Kwok-ming, said a full survey of the whole building would be carried out to identify any other problems.
'We will complete the investigation as soon as possible but it usually takes about a month,' said a department spokesman.
