Guess? has unashamedly turned back the clock but given its collection a modern touch with pastel shades.

'This collection is quite a mod look, going back to the '60s and '70s, especially for the trousers and the checks, and we also have a lot of the bright colours that are popular this year,' advertising executive Katherine Wong said.

The season starts with a variety of pastel blues and sorbet pinks toned up or down to create monochromatic looks. Black and white is also a strong colour combination.

Another focus is bright acid colours such as lobelia (purple), lime, peachy orange and sky blue, often offset with white.

For denim, there are also special colours such as strawberry, yellow and lime.

Apart from the solids, patterns are mostly checks and stripes, with gingham claiming centre stage for narrow trousers and A-line skirts.
