Wan runs up fifth victory

HONGKONG'S leading biathlete Wan Shu-wah stamped his authority on the Aquathon Winter Series by scoring his fifth victory in seven races at the Hongkong Sports Institute yesterday.

Wan won in 33 minutes and 13 seconds from teenager James Hartwright who made quite an impression in his first open race with a time of 34 minutes and 17 seconds, only metres ahead of Cheung Man-ho and Tony Chui who crossed the line together for joint third.

Star junior triathlete Bobo Lee Wing-yee swept to an easy triumph in the women's division in the absence of arch rival Sue Ross.

Lee, who has won six of the women's races and was a close second to Ross in the other, covered the course in 38 minutes and 14 seconds to beat runner-up Alison Bailey by almost seven minutes. Vicki Lai was third.
