A naive approach to democracy

MAY I congratulate Ms Margaret Ng on her article ''An unacceptable face of elections'' (Post, January 12) which I consider to be a masterly exercise in the skill of obfuscation. It must have taken considerable creative ingenuity to write the article but in the process she, unfortunately, projects a rather naive understanding of the concept of democracy.

If any section of the electorate is permitted more than one vote it immediately creates an ''elite'' class who can bring undue influence to bear on the outcome of an election and opens avenues of corruption.
