Beneficiaries of the annual social welfare 'shopping list' handed to the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club were monitored by government branches, said Secretary for Health and Welfare Katherine Fok Lo Shiu-ching. Mrs Fok said the Governor recommended a list of projects to be funded every year.

The club had in the past three years donated $241 million to such projects - about seven per cent of its total charitable donations over the period. Mrs Fok said policy branches would keep an eye on the funded organisations to ensure donations were appropriately used.
